Step 1. Sing a song

  eg: headache, toothache, earache...

Step 2. Presentation of the whole story.

1Show two pictures of Su Hai and Mike. They both fell unwell, so they are seeing the doctor. Lead in the title.

2Watch the whole story and answer the following question:

What’s wrong with Su Hai? 

   What’s wrong with Mike?  

Step 3. Learning of Part 1

1. Watch Part 1.

2. Fill in two questions:

Why?   

What...do?

Why does she have a headache?

What should she do?

3. Read and discuss about the two questions

 

 

 

4. Encourage students to fill the blanks about ‘ think and write’ .

5. Let’s repeat.(pay attention to ‘check’)

6. Read in 2 students. Teacher checks their reading.

Step 4. Learning of Part 2

1. Lead in.

Here is a story of Mike. He has a toothache. Teacher wants to know two questions about his toothache. Can you guess the two questions?

Why does he have a toothache?

 What should he do?

2. Read and find the answer.

a. Read and circle. Read in your groups. Circle some new words. Help each other understand new words if you know them.(Teach ‘anything, bedtime’)

b. Find the answers. Find the answers of questions again on the book.

In this lesson, we’ll have some learning aims. Look at the learning aims. First, I know the sound of the letter “ch”. Then, I know the difference between the expresses of temperature in China and Western countries. Finally, I can understand cartoon time and can act it out well.

2. Sound time

Now, let’s come to the first aim.

a.     T: Look at the picture. The boy is Charlie.

   What is Charlie doing? (eat chicken for his lunch/sit on a bench)

b. Ss read the words together.

T ask Ss what’s the sound of “ch”.

c. Ss read the words and short passage after VCD.

d. Ss read the short passage in rhyme in groups. T ask one group to read the short passage.

e. T asks students to think more words with “ch” and say sentences with the words on the blackboard.

f. T lead Ss to think more pronunciations of “ch”

 

3. Culture time

a. Ss read culture time after VCD.

b. T teaches students the meaning and how to read the three words: temperature, centigrade and Fahrenheit.
